Broadstroke has new building signage!

Make a statement with building signage that stands the test of time

If you haven’t heard the news or seen it in person yet, Broadstroke recently updated the signage over the front entrance to our building. If you haven’t driven by or come in to pick up an order, stop by and see our new signage!

Our old signage was functional, but we weren’t taking full advantage of space on the building that could make our signage more eye-catching. The sign had also faded over the years, making it look dull and harder to read.

The new signage was a collaboration between several of our departments here at Broadstroke. Members of our production team measured the space to make sure we got the right dimensions for the signage, so that the three panels look the same size while keeping the edges of the west and south panels lined up with the windows below them. This ensured that the panels themselves would be balanced and aesthetically pleasing.

Then the design team took over, producing a look that allowed us to take full advantage of the size of the panels to make our company name as large as possible for visibility while also promoting different services that we offer. Since the south-facing panel is viewed separately from the west and southwest panels, we used our services logo to fill the space on the south panel and then used a single design that wrapped across the other two panels. Placement and size of the text and images on the panels was tweaked until the design was balanced and aesthetically pleasing.

The next step was to have our wide format team work their magic. The artwork was printed on vinyl, and then the vinyl was applied to max metal to create permanent signage that has durability for being mounted outside on a building. We added an extra step this time around and laminated the outdoor sign as well.

If you’re considering an update to your building signage, lamination is something we strongly recommend. It offers multiple benefits that improve the durability and finish of your outdoor signage, including:

Protection from the elements

  • UV protection: Laminates block harmful UV rays from the sun, which prevents the ink from fading and keeps the sign’s colors vibrant for longer.
  • Weather resistance: A protective layer guards the sign against moisture, rain, and humidity, which helps prevent the material from degrading.

Increased durability

  • Physical protection: Lamination adds a physical barrier that protects against scratches, scuffs, and general wear and tear from rubbing and handling.
  • Anti-graffiti: Certain laminates are designed to repel ink, paint, and markers, making it easier to clean graffiti off the sign.

Improved appearance and finish

  • Enhanced color: Some finishes, like glossy laminate, can make the sign’s colors appear more vibrant.
  • Reduced glare: Matte finishes are available to reduce glare from sunlight, making the sign easier to read.

The last step was to take down the old signage and install the new signage. Thankfully, we found days when there was no precipitation, little wind and the temperature was still mild, ideal conditions for sign installation.

If you’re considering permanent building signage, we encourage you to reach out to us. Updating signage can seem straightforward, but taking the steps to measure out the space and create artwork that takes full advantage of that space is an important part of making an impact with your signage to promote your business. In addition, using durable materials and laminating your sign will not only help your sign look better when it’s first installed but also help it maintain its appearance over time.
